Sister Matthea Simon, SSSF, 97, went to her heavenly home on Wed. May 30, 2012 at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport . She was born in Johnsburg on June 21, 1914 to the late Henry and Dorothy Kiersten Simon. Sister joined the School Sisters of St. Francis on Nov. 25, 1927 and professed her vows in June of 1932. Sister Matthea served her community as a teacher at various community missions the longest of which was St. Peter’s School in St. Peter. Sister Matthea is survived by her sister Mary Angela Retzleff of Fond du Lac, her nephews and nieces and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 80 years. Preceding her in death was her sister Sr. Romilda Simon, SSSF, one brother Clement (Olive) Simon, one sister Dorothy Kachelmeier and one brother-in-law Roger Retzleff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday June 7, 2012 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Convent, 526 Mill St. Campbellsport. Burial will follow in Sisters Cemetery, Campbellsport.
