Russell Adelbert Koenig, 91, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the home of his Granddaughter and care givers, Victoria and Douglas Hull. Russell was born in Racine on September 22, 1920 to William and May (Beach) Koenig. He was the youngest of their five children. He lived in Sturtevant for many years and retired in Salus, AR for 29 years. He moved to Campbellsport Wisconsin with his wife Dorothy in 2008. Dorothy (Bezucha) preceded him in death in February of 2009. He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Russell is survived by two daughters, Pat Brechtbill of Springfield, OR and Diane (James) Christensen of Montrose, CO. He has six grand children, Elena (David) Bloom of Racine, Victoria (Douglas) Hull of Campbellsport, Leela Nerad of Machesney Park, IL, Daniel Valle of Hilo, HI, Benjamin (Deborah) Christensen of Brookfield, and Jenny (Anton) Sandoval of New Berlin. Nine great grandchildren and his nephew Paul (Rose) Harvey of Caledonia also survive him. Russell was a carpenter contractor and a guitar teacher. He built many homes in the Racine area and taught numerous people to play the guitar both in Racine and Salus, Ar. He and Dorothy had a dance band in the 50’s and loved hosting impromptu guitar playing in his home with various musician friends. Russell also served in the Navy for several years. Funeral services will be held on Monday Aug. 27th at 1:00 PM at the West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel in Racine. Rev. Paul Tautges will officiate and burial will follow. Visitation will be Monday Aug. 27th from 12:30 PM to time of services at West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel.
