Sister Leona Sibbel, SSSF, “Sister Laurissa”, 87, passed away Wed. Oct. 3, 2012 at St. Joseph Convent, Campbellsport. She was born on Feb. 19, 1925 in Butte, NE, the daughter of the late August and Catherine Halbur Sibbel. On June 13, 1942, she joined the School Sisters of St. Francis and professed her vows on June 21, 1944. Sister served her community as a teacher at various community missions. Sister Leona is survived by her sister Sr. Margaret Sibbel, her brother Anton (Tony) Sibbel and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 70 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Oct. 5, 2012 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Convent, 526 Mill St. Campbellsport. Burial will follow in Sisters Cemetery, Campbellsport. Visitation and wake service will begin at 10:00 AM Friday Oct. 5th at St. Joseph Convent.
