Carol A. Soyk, 64, of Campbellsport, went to her heavenly home on Monday Dec. 3, 2012 at her home after a courageous 2 year battle with ALS. She was born Dec. 7, 1947 the daughter of Walter and Pearl Damerow Buslaff. On June 21, 1969 she married Bruce L. Soyk at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Carol was a 1966 graduate of Campbellsport High School and a 1967 graduate of Moraine Park Technical School. She worked at St. Agnes Hospital as an LPN in the OB department and later in the ER until retiring on January 1st, 2012. Carol was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, treasurer for the Long Lake Youth Association and the Eden Snobirds Snowmobile Club and was a Girl Scout Leader. While in high school she gave accordion lessons. She bowled and shot pool for a number of years, enjoyed camping, 4 wheeling, the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and NASCAR. Carol enjoyed sewing her children’s clothes and gardening but most of all she appreciated just being with her family and friends. Carol didn’t have an enemy in the world, she always had a smile on her face and had a good word to say to others. Survivors include her husband Bruce, her daughters Sherrie (Shawn) Schelvan of Wausaukee, Michelle (Kevin) Carey and Stacey (Robert ) Grohall, her son Michael (Ellie) Soyk all of Campbellsport, her grandchildren Alex Soyk, Zach Carey, Dylan & Evan Soyk, Lucas & Devin Grohall, her brother David (Maureen) Buslaff of Byron, brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane Soyk, William & Jan Soyk, Christine Soyk, Connie & Charles O’Laughlin, Mark & Sheri Soyk, Loren & Sheila Soyk, Kim Soyk, Kerry & Kevin Immel and Sharon & John Schwartz and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, her grandson Jackson Soyk, her in-laws Lester & Elda Soyk, her brother-in-law Merlin Soyk, her niece Christa O’Laughlin and her nephew Aaron Buslaff. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 6th from 3 until 8PM at the Twohig Funeral Home 109 W. Main St., Campbellsport and on Friday, Dec. 7th from noon until time of Mass at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 7th at 1:30 PM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church 406 E. Main St, Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow the parish cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to Agnesian Hospice Hope, the Wisconsin Chapter of ALS or the family. The family extends a special thank you to Margie & Gene Sippel, Carol & Jim Murphy, her fellow workers in ER and to the Agnesian Hospice Hope for their care and concern for Carol.
