Ambrose William Kohlman, 83, of Eden passed away on Thurs. July 9, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with his family gathered around him. He was born at home in the Town of Eden on November 25, 1931, the son of Benedict and Wilhelmina (Gantner) Kohlman. Ambrose attended Hayes School of Eden. He lived on a farm near Twin Lakes until the age of twelve, then moved with family to their farm north of Eden. Ambrose found the love of his life and married Merlyn Elizabeth Gordon on April 11, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Ambrose and Merlyn worked on the farm and raised and loved their six children. They moved to Eden in 1986. Ambrose worked for Gellings Implement as a mechanic for a number of years and moved on to working for St. Mary's Church and then Shepherd of the Hills of Eden proudly as a custodian, where he took care of the church that he loved. He retired from Shepherd of the Hills Catholic School/Church. Ambrose cherished and loved his Lord Jesus, his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Ambrose is survived by his wife Merlyn, his children: Daniel of Ripon, Aleitha Mary (Joe) Marino of Waukesha, Joseph of Fond du Lac, Dale of Waukesha, Steve (Kay) of Fond du Lac, and Paul (Sharon) of Theresa, two grandchildren: Laura Kohlman of Appleton and Andrea Kohlman of Fond du Lac and one great grandson Alexander Kohlman of Fond du Lac, one brother Lyneis (Marion) Kohlman of Dotyville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Dede (Foss) Kohlman, sisters Helen (Loren) Hughes and Aleita (Royal) Soyk, his sister and brother-in-laws Gwen (Ralph) Summers and Zella (Ed) Mumm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. July 15th at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Hwy B Eden. The Rev. John Radetski will officiate with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday July 14th at the Twohig Funeral Home at 305 Fond du Lac Avenue, Fond du Lac from 4:00 PM until 7:30 PM and at the church on Wed. from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer's Research. Ambrose's family would like to give special thanks to ManorCare Nursing Home and St. Agnes Hospital 5th floor south for their care they gave to Ambrose. Ambrose finally received his wish to go back home, for he is now in our Lord's arms leaving his broken body behind to return to dust.
