Catherine Virginia Briggs

Catherine V. Briggs, 96, of Eden died Sunday February 7, 2016 at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport. She was born in Fond du Lac on August 27, 1919, the daughter of Peter and Mary Ketter Schommer.   On November 14, 1950, Catherine married James Briggs at St. Mary’s Church in Eden. Catherine was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and the St. Mary’s Altar Society. She worked as a cook at the school in Eden and she was a great cook and loved to garden.

Survivors include her sons Peter Briggs of McFarland and Patrick (Rita) Briggs of Eden, her grandchildren Adam, Eric, Scott, Jamie and Tyler (Ashley), her great grandchild Brynlee, her sister Germaine Schommer of Eden, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James on February 18, 1983, her sisters Ruth Hass and Pauline Arthur and infant brother Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 11th at 11:30 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Hwy B, Eden.   Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden.
