John Peter Meixensperger

September 18, 1941 — February 25, 2016

John Peter Meixensperger (WA9EYM), formerly of Fond du Lac, died on February 25, 2016 at Capitol Lakes Care Center in Madison at the age of 74.

John was a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac, born on September 18, 1941 to Harry and Rose (Valkoske) Meixensperger. He attended Saint Mary’s Grade School and Saint Mary’s Spring High School, and after graduation attended Moraine Park Technical Institute. For the majority of his adult life he worked at the former Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Company, Inc. as a wireman/electrician until complications from Diabetes forced his retirement.

John was a hardcore Amateur Radio operator, who enjoyed every aspect of the hobby. As far as he was concerned, there wasn’t enough radio equipment nor enough time to do all the things Ham radio operators do. John just couldn’t have enough of the Ham experience, which brought him great joy. John also enjoyed model railroading, and building airplane models, all of which were done to perfection, and other hobbies as his mood would dictate.

John was fortunate to receive a kidney transplant in 1999 on the same day his niece Rachael was born, a gift that extended his life for many years. In recent months his health significantly declined that he came to live by his brother and family in Madison. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Mark (Kathryn), DeForest, nephew Robert (Kelsey), and great-niece Amelia, Norfolk, VA, and niece and God-child Rachael, DeForest, along with aunts and cousins.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 9:00 to11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth St Way Fond du Lac, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery.

John’s family is deeply grateful for the professionalism and kindness extended to him by the staff of Capitol Lakes Health Care Center, Madison, Wisconsin Dialysis, Madison, the Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care, Madison.
