Donald E. Blaylock, 81, of North Fond du Lac, passed away at home on Saturday, March 26, 2016. He was born in Spencer, IA, on August 1, 1934, the son of Ernest J. and Mary May(Rickey) Blaylock. The family lived in Missouri early on, moving to Wisconsin in the mid 1940’s.
Donald married Joan Marie Pickart on November 27, 1952 in Fond du Lac, settled in Mt. Calvary and had five children. After a short stay in Missouri in the early 70’s the family moved back to Fond du Lac in 1973 where Donald then stayed for the rest of his life. Joan died much too soon, leaving them on July 3, 1987.
Donald married Joann “Jo” Smet on Dec. 31, 1987 in Fond du Lac, he cared for Jo’s family as he did his own. Joann died August 27, 1997.
Donald married Linda Quaas on December 31, 1998 and remained with her until his death.
Donald will be remembered as a hard working man. He worked from a tender age on including time spent at Tecumseh Power Products in New Holstein but he has spent the past 40+ years working with Mark Flood in home sales while also maintaining a Lighting Protection business with his sons; at first with his oldest son Donny and then later on with Doug. Donald and Doug worked their final job together shortly before his death.
Donald enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and Nascar, trips to the casino and a good card game but what made him most happy was his family.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife Linda, his children: Donna (Jim) Wilhelms, Donny (Kathy) Blaylock, Dawn (Buff) Steinke, Douglas (Jane) Blaylock, Dan (Melissa) Blaylock, 14 grandchildren: Shawnna (Ryan) Koening, Dustin Hodoff, Tony (fiancée Janessa) Wilhelms, Nick (Dawn) Blaylock, Derek (Elissa) Steinke, Drew (fiancée Brianna) Steinke, Matt Steinke, Amanda (fiancé Matt) Blaylock, Cassandra Blaylock, Arianna(special friend Sean) Blaylock, Peyton, Isabella, Aliyah, and Annalise Blaylock. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren: Drake, Korynne, Alivia, Cole, Ty, Eli, Addi, Dean, Kinsley, Amaya, Carter and Ryder. He is further survived by
one sister Wanda Mason, brother-in-law Jerry Pickart, sister-in-law Kathy Johnson, Jo’s Boys: Darrell, Del, John and Rick Smet, Linda’s daughter Shawna and her family and many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, two wives: Joan and Jo, grandson Kurt Hinckley, his brother Clarence and sister Florence Patterson.
Memorial services with be held on Saturday, April 2 at 3:30 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave. Fond du Lac with Deacon Sue Burman officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 2 from 12:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mount Calvary at a later date.
