Richard “Dick” A. Borkenhagen, 80, of Waunakee passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Kenosha on July 17, 1937, the son of Chester and Hannah (nee Buhrandt ) Borkenhagen. Dick served his country in the Army from 1955 until 1957. In 1961, he married Diane McQuestion, they had three children to bless their marriage. Diane died of cancer in 1972. In 1987 he married Debra Schaefer from Fond du Lac, they were blessed to have 30 years together. Dick was a member of the Waunakee American Legion Post #360. Dick loved to cook for his family and friends, and was considered a gourmet in his own right.

Survivors include his wife Debra, son John”Jack” (Diana) of Mechanicsburg, PA, two daughters: Jean (Mike) Roddick of Sparta and Jill (Mark) Jackson of Madison, five grandchildren: Hannah Borkenhagen, Jaden and John Roddick, Amber and Mariah Jackson, two brother-in-laws: Bob (Sandy) Schaefer of Mequon and Jeff Beahm of North Fond du Lac, nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Diane, and sister Janice (Lester) Buchholz.

A Celebration of Dick's Life will be on Wednesday Dec. 27 th at the Waunakee American Legion Post #360, 417 E. Main St. Waunakee from 3PM until 5PM with a short Prayer Service at 5PM. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday Dec. 29 th at Calvary Cemetery Chapel 686 Fond du Lac Avenue, Fond du Lac with entombment at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum with military rites by the Trier Puddy American Legion Post #75. Visitation will be Friday Dec. 29 th from 10:00 AM until time of service at the Chapel. Memorials are appreciated to Agrace Hospice Care- Fitchburg branch.
