Johanna Martha Runge

Johanna M. Runge, 93, formerly of Eden passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Woodlands Senior Park. She was born on November 9, 1924 in the Town of Eden, the daughter of Samuel and Lorena (Majerus) Gudex. On June 9, 1945, Johanna married Gerhard R. Runge at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. They farmed together in the Town of Osceola and in 1956, they were named the Outstanding Young Farmers in Wisconsin by the Jaycees. Johanna was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother loved by all for her fun and great humor. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Campbellsport and now a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. She was active in the Ladies Aid, Monday Morning Quilters and the Friday Morning Bible Class.

Survivors include two sons Richard (Mary) Runge and William (Lynette) Runge both of Eden, one daughter Phyllis (Robert) Giese of Fond du Lac, seven grandchildren Michael Runge, Bryan (April) Giese, Rob (April) Giese, Amy (Kurt) Zabolski, William “BJ” (Erika) Runge, Ben Runge and Rebecca (Jake) Gellings, fourteen great grandchildren, two brothers Sam (Beatrice) Gudex and Norman Gudex, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Lou Ann Gudex, Vera and John Dallman and Marian Runge, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerhard on Sept. 30, 1992, sisters Viola (Ed) Gellings and Marie (Christ) Sabish, brothers Loren (Vera) Gudex and John Gudex, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ray and Mable Runge, Sylvia and Patrick McNamara and Edward Runge.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27th at 5:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 55 N. Prairie Rd. Fond du Lac. Rev. David Haugly and Rev. Michael Weigand will officiate and private burial will be Saturday in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.

Visitation will be Friday April 27th from 2:00 PM until time of services at Faith Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Faith Lutheran Church or Agnesian Hospice Hope.

The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Woodlands Senior Park and Agnesian Hospice Hope for the care and concern shown Johanna in her final years.
