Robert G. Zierer, 87, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the New Perspective in West Bend. He was born in Park Falls, WI, on January 4, 1931, the son of the late George and Helen Zierer (nee Haas). He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a P.O.W. and earned a Purple Heart. Robert married Veronica Dohnalik on December 1, 1956; she preceded him in death on November 13, 1997. He married Denise Darby in April of 2000. Robert made dyes for leather finishing and also played the lead guitar and the banjo.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Denise; children, Teri (John) Schubert, Mark (Debbie Taylor), William (Cheryl Kossow), Chris (Sandy), Ronald (Tammi), and Shelly (Frankie) Cubias; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas; and his sister, Mary Ellen Mitchell.
A private family entombment will take place at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name are appreciated to the Clement J. Zablocki V.A.
